Sure to make waves this summer, jet-powered surfboards

Yes, it's true. For $4,500 dollars, you can get this new invention from Wavejet that makes surfing easier. This jet powered surf-board goes 5-12 mph, depending on what motor you get. The motor is located in the back of the board, and sucks water through it and pushes it out the back to make it go. It gives off a low hum and weighs 15 lbs, but Wavejet says that they don't feel heavy in the water and ride like a traditional surf board. They are aiming at surfers who have weak arms and lifegaurds who need to go save victims quickly.
I don't know how to surf, but this sounds like a lot of fun. I kinda want to try it, just to see how fun it is. What do y'all think?

  1. Sign me up! That is pretty expensive though. Maybe the price will come down in the next couple of years.

  3. Haha... Funny (: I think that "surfers with weak arms" aren't REAL surfers. I mean, if you're a pro or just really good, your arms are just fine. And if you're a beginner, then you SHOULD build arm strength. Don't get all lazy. However, I think the whole lifeguard thing is good. Could save lives in that aspect.

  5. this sounds really really cool and It probably will make surfing 10 times easier...but isn't that just taking a lot of fun out of surfing?? Surfing's such a dificult sport, and when people get really good at it it just makes it that much more exciting that it's so dificult and requires so much athletic ability! So may be making it easy isn't as fun! Plus it's just helping to make our already extreamly lazy nation LAZIER!!!

  6. dude thats pretty cool lol but not for REAL surfers. Real surfers dont need a boost but I can understand for people with disabilaties who want to try surfing but cant do it all by themselves.
